To take into account body composition and level of daily work in developing a diet. Goals of change are usually the proportion of macronutrients. the current level of body fat is a direct indicator of the current bodies ability to absorb nutrients effectively. so that a high carbohydrate diet for a person with a high percentage of body fat and cause a significant increase in weight more than your body can not metabolize glucose efficiently.
If you're not an athlete as a distance runner, swimming, etc., then I would be all over the isocaloric 33% protein, 33% carbohydrate and fat 33% go to 40% protein, 40% carbohydrate and 20% fat.
